I have used a man’s torso as a symbol of the vital epic. Ulysses’ journey is, in fact, the journey of all. Questions like: What is more important, the purpose of the journey or the path to get there? (as the poet Antonio Machado used to say) Those are work hypothesis to me. What do we bring with us int he journey?, and what are we left with at the end? Experiences, memories, complicity, emotions, tenderness, and finally the essence of the sailor’s loneliness.
