“This work which I call “weaving” has been part of my expression since the beginning, when I studied in Japan. It offers a way to create volume, texture, shapes and allows me to develop my thoughts and research in a material I enjoy working with. Often in combination with other techniques or materials, whatever is required for the project I am involved in. It continually surprises me, the element of chance is very much present, and has become part of my creative expression. Being Dutch, living in São Paulo, and having spent several years in places such as Pakistan and Japan, I find myself strengthened, culturally and personally, while at the same time learning to understand the fragility of living “between two worlds”. All this ends up appearing in my work”.
