It is a privilege for the Context gallery to be able to exhibit this exhibition within Joya 2020.
This is not a conventional exhibition, none of the participating artists, Silvia Serra, Kiseno and Juanjo García Martín, are, therefore, and how could it be otherwise their pieces either.
Almost a year ago, Sílvia Serra, who had already taken part in several exhibitions at Context, spoke to me about the possibility of holding this RESISTANCE exhibition, with the idea of continuing to express her anxieties for today's world through her pieces. This show, as she herself said, wanted to be a continuation of what they had done in 2019 entitled INDIFFERENCE at the BAAL gallery in Barcelona. Presumably this proposal caught me off guard from the start.
Later I met Kiseno, with his history and his works full of ideological and political commitment, and Juanjo García Martín this versatile artist who in his works mixes poetry with urban reality, and the need to bring art to the streets.
The pieces of these three artists are technically impeccable and also very innovative in terms of materials used, but the most important thing is their terrifying contemporaneity, because in the moment we are living they tell us about positioning, courage, daring, commitment, respect, empathy, and responsibility.
These pieces that do not leave us indifferent as spectators, involve us as users and take us out of our comfort zone, also facing our fears and our hopes.
